2 Baby Showers

Ok, I have been so busy that I have not posted anything about the 2 other baby showers I had- one with my dad's family (and Kari) in Oklahoma City on the 6th and one at our church here in Frederick on the 13th. First of all, let me say that I am so grateful for all the wonderful friends and family who have given Jason and I gifts, at the showers and in the mail or just handed to us from people that couldn't make it to a shower. We are so blessed! In addition to the hand-me-downs we have received (thank you so much Amanda and Jennifer), we got so much at the showers themselves! I haven't even had time to go through all the hand-me-downs yet, but I think the only big thing we're missing is the monitor (which we have ordered but it hasn't shipped yet) and the high chair (which we got a gift card for but were waiting to buy until we knew whether or not someone else was going to give us one. So we are pretty much set. We have (just listing the major stuff) all the nursery furniture (crib, changing table, chest of drawers, and armoir), swing, 2 different styles of bouncy chairs, an infant bather, stroller/car seat travel set, a breast pump, one of those backwards-backpack style carriers, lots of clothes, toys, diapers, and wipes. I still want a sling-style carrier, but we have multiple gift cards, and I think that my sister-in-law might even have one that she just didn't know I wanted so it wasn't included in the other hand-me-downs. You guys are all so awesome. I feel much more baby ready now than I did a month ago! Now if we could just get the baby furniture put together and the a/c fixed...

Baby Shower News

Between us being out of town all the time and family reunions and then Roxie (who is in charge of baby showers at the church) being out of town, we have just this week finally set in stone the baby shower here. It will be at Bible Baptist Church here in Frederick on Saturday, June 13th at 2:00pm. Brenda had suggested that a Saturday would make it easier for the Wichita Falls crowd to come, plus Melissa had said she would like to come and will be here for the reunion at Jeannie's, so this seemed like the perfect time. In town, I have registered at Ace Hardware and will register at KC's on Monday while I have the day off. I'm also registered at Toys 'R' Us/Babies 'R' Us and Target and just added a few new things today.

Baby shower at Mom's

Well, I couldn't figure out how to format the pictures like I wanted, but this is as good as it gets today :) We were having so much fun that we kinda forgot to take many pictures, but here's what I have. My mom, 2 of my aunts, my grandma, my sister and 2 cousins, each with their little ones stayed for the shower while then men all went out for various outdoor activities. We played the baby shower version of "The Price is Right" where we guessed how much various baby products cost- I was terrible at it, by the way- then attempted to guess the flavor of 8 different varieties of baby food on sight alone (also bad at that one). While waiting for Kylie to come home, we snacked on shower food and cake. Once my sister got off work and was able to join us, we played "I never" and everyone had to add change to Emma's new piggy bank (That was actually tons of fun!) and I opened up presents from my family- lots of cute, cute clothes, a really cool baby book set, the piggy bank of course, a baby book, and several gift cards for things I had registered for which had become online only. During the presents we played present bingo, and I won a reed diffuser gift set. Not too long after the shower, the guys came home and we had hamburgers- and some more cake- and those who lived far off left for home. Jason and I stayed until way too late (about 9:30) and made it home around 1am. But we had a blast and it was so worth it to get to see mom's side of the family. In a week and a half, we'll do it all again with my dad's family in OKC at my grandma's house. I can't wait to see them too!

Baby registry

Ok, for all my mom-friends out there who have gone through this recently feel free to leave comments and help me out! I am attempting to register for Emma since we live in the middle of no where and it seems considerate to do so as soon as possible since many people will need to travel to go to purchase baby shower items. I've registered on Target and Babies 'R' Us but I'm having a little trouble knowing what to add. Here's the dilemma: (mother-in-law) has given us a crib, changing table, dresser, armiore, all the bedding, a couple of blankets, baby wash/shampoo, lotion, diaper rash cream, brush, 2 boxes of diapers, wipes, and various and sundry other items. Amanda, my sister-in-law, has a baby who will turn 1 right about the time Emma is born and is giving us clothers, a diaper genie, a breast pump (which she says is really nice- I haven't really researched them much yet), shoes, a "bebe pod" chair, and several other things. Jason and I have picked out a baby monitor that we absolutely have our hearts set on (it comes with a regular audio monitor and a sensor pad that goes under the crib mattress and can detect when the baby stops breathing- so cool!) on Target and some small stuff (like extra crib sheets in colors that match our bedding and rattles, teething toys, Baby Einstein DVDs, etc.) on both websites for people who can't afford to spend a lot. My question is: What else do I need? Am I missing something glaringly obvious?
